Itinerary
- Day 01: Jodhpur Arrival
Cab will pick you up from Jodhpur railway station / airport and transfer to your hotel. Check in to your hotel and freshen up. Have a traditional Rajasthani lunch at a local restaurant (at your cost). Then Visit local market, Sardar Market, Ghantaghar, Toorji ka Jhalra in the evening. Night stay in hotel.
- Day 02: Jodhpur Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, start for Jodhpur sightseeing tour. Mehrangarh Fort is one of the largest in India and offers breathtaking views of the Blue City (Jodhpur). The fort houses a museum that showcases artifacts, paintings and royal palanquins. Jaswant Thada is a beautiful marble cenotaph located near Mehrangarh Fort, built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The architecture and the serene environment make it a peaceful place to visit. Umaid Bhawan Palace is a magnificent palace that serves as a museum and a royal residence. Part of the palace has been converted into a luxury hotel and another section is open to the public, displaying artifacts, vintage cars and more. Mandor Gardens house various temples, memorials and high rock terraces. If time permits, you can visit Kaylana Lake and Machiya Safari Park. Back to hotel for overnight stay.
- Day 03: Jodhpur to Jaisalmer (275 km)
After breakfast, checkout the hotel and start for Jaisalmer. Visit Pokaran Fort enroute. Check in to your hotel in Jaisalmer and freshen up. Have a traditional Rajasthani lunch at a local restaurant (at your cost). Then explore the Jaisalmer Fort, also known as Sonar Qila, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The golden sandstone fort is a masterpiece of Rajasthani architecture. You can explore the narrow winding streets, visit Jain temples and enjoy panoramic views of the city from the fort. Night stay in hotel.
- Day 04: Jaisalmer Local Sightseeing
Start your day by visiting the iconic Jaisalmer Fort. Explore its narrow lanes, visit the Jain Temple inside and enjoy panoramic views of the city from the fort walls. Then proceed to Patwon Ki Haveli, a cluster of five havelis known for their intricate architecture. Marvel at the detailed carvings and learn about the history of these merchant mansions. Visit Salim Singh Ki Haveli, known for its distinctive peacock-shaped architecture. Explore the beautiful balconies and archways. You can visit Nathmal Ki Haveli also. Then head to Gadisar Lake for a peaceful evening. You can take a boat ride on the lake (at your own cost) and admire the surrounding temples and pavilions. You may attend a cultural show, which may include traditional Rajasthani folk music and dance performances. Many places in Jaisalmer organize such shows. Back to hotel for overnight stay.
- Day 05: Tanot and Longewala Excursion (300 km)
After breakfast, start your journey towards Tanot. Visit Tanot Mata Temple, located near the India-Pakistan border. Explore the temple and learn about its historical significance, especially during the Indo-Pak wars. You can visit India-Pak border after obtaining permits from Tanot. Proceed to Longewala, the site of the famous Battle of Longewala during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. Visit the Longewala War Memorial to pay tribute to the soldiers who fought bravely. Explore the museum and see exhibits related to the battle. Back to Jaisalmer for overnight stay.
- Day 06: Jaisalmer to Sam/Khuri via Kuldhara (60 km)
After breakfast, check out the hotel and depart from Jaisalmer towards Sam/Khuri. Make your first stop at Kuldhara Village. It is believed to be a haunted and abandoned village with a fascinating history. Take a guided tour to learn about the mysterious tale of why the villagers abandoned their homes overnight. After exploring Kuldhara, continue your journey to Sam/Khuri, which is famous for its stunning sand dunes and desert experiences. Check-in at a desert camp or resort. These camps offer comfortable accommodations and various activities in the desert. You can go for a camel ride or jeep safari to explore the sand dunes. This is a unique way to experience the desert landscape. Some camps offer quad biking experiences for those seeking more adventure. Capture the mesmerizing views of the desert landscape and the ever-changing play of light and shadows. In the evening, witness a breathtaking desert sunset. The changing colors of the sand and the sky during this time are truly magical. Return to your desert camp or resort, where you can enjoy a cultural evening with traditional folk music and dance performances. Take a delicious Rajasthani dinner at the camp.
- Day 07: Sam/Khuri to Jodhpur Drop (320 km)
Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the sand dunes. The morning light and tranquility of the desert are truly mesmerizing. Enjoy breakfast at the camp/resort. Then start for Jodhpur with fond memories of your desert adventures. Cab will drop you at Jodhpur railway station or airport.
